Let’s make one thing clear from the get go, my wedding won’t be traditional. We won’t be getting married in a church and there won’t be 100+ guests. I’ve got a fairly good idea of the kind of dress I’m going for, but shoes, well shoes are something I’m a little bit unsure about. Yes, I have plenty of time to decide, but there’s nothing wrong with a little planning… right?
Part of me would very much like to go the traditional route. Although I don’t relish the idea of wearing heels for a whole day, there are some truly gorgeous offerings that make my heart flutter a little. These Marian Alethia T-Bars are pretty dreamy and the Zagra by Pura Lopez is a more modern alternative that will add a little va-va-voom to the whole ensemble.
While there are plenty of classic white or cream heeled options, I’ve seen a trend in the wedding blogs I’ve been following for brightly coloured shoes underneath all those puffy white ruffles. I think this is really cute and adds a bit of fun, and the Marian Elseline is a gorgeous deep purple that would go well with a possible colour scheme we’re considering. The Lola Ramona Angie Bubble is also pretty cute, cartoonish option that I think is a great way to show a bit of me.
When night falls though, well that’s a different story. There’s no way I’ll be able to stay in heels all day so when it comes to the reception I’ll be switching. Whether it’ll be to flats or wedges I’m not sure. A colourful wedge could keep a colour splash theme going and be much more comfortable (and maybe a bit more me) or a plain satin flat like the Menbur Alicia is a simple ladylike option that’ll keep me dancing into the early hours.
Finally, I’ve seen plenty of pictures Converse Brides before, and we all know how much I love my old faithfuls, but reading a post on the lovely Nikki’s wedding blog Little Love Notes the other day reminded me how much I like the idea of slipping into a pair on my wedding day. I know converse would be comfortable and if I bought a plain pair of cream or white low tops I could embellish them by sewing on sequins, pearls and beads myself. Then I could step out of my heels and into some comfy creations for the reception!
What do you think? What would you wear, or what did you wear, on your feet on your wedding day? Help me out here!
