So almost 100% of my Instagram pictures are food. Ha. After just over six months of living together in domestic bliss, turns out Matt and I have got the cooking thing down. March saw us perfect the ultimate roast chicken and I'm fresh from completing my most complex cupcake to date. Life is good.
A visit from my parents a few weeks ago for Mother's Day saw me make my first trip into the Yorkshire countryside. We stopped at Bettys for a little afternoon tea. I could spend hours in their shop, buying macaroons and Fat Rascals. It is a must visit for food lovers - if a bit oversubscribed these days. A few weekends ago Matt and I headed to York to see Noah and the Whale play at the York Barbican. The venue was weird, and the latest album isn't really my thing, but a lovely day out was had regardless. We had a gorgeous meal at a Bistro called Cafe No. 8 and topped the day off with a few drinks. I've been seeing a lot of bands in the last few months, most recently Pokey LaFarge and the South City Three who were absolutely amazing to see live. The guy on the washboard was actually jaw-dropping, so different from so many of the bands I've seen before.
Since that little glimpse of sunshine we had last week, I'm absolutely aching for summer. I can't wait for a holiday in the sun and have a few weekends away at festivals! I should hopefully get to see favourite bands of mine Beth Jeans Houghton and the Hooves of Destiny and Slow Club twice over the summer at Sheffield's free festival Tramlines and Green Man in Wales too which will make it three times this year. I seriously can't wait. After a few strange, transient summers I'm excited to have one full of sun, cider, music and friends. I'm also going to Edinburgh for my birthday (8th May) to see the Pandas. I absolutely can't wait. Only a month to go :)
This weekend I set myself the task of making Easter baskets for Matt's parents, Aunties and Grandparents. It was a bit of a mammoth task but I got it done and really enjoyed doing it. I've had a bit of interest over Instagram and Twitter so there'll be a post coming this week! The cupcakes you can see are the extras from the special Easter ones I made, I was really pleased with them in the end and the cream cheese frosting was pretty damn tasty. One step closer to being that domestic goddess I aspire to be.
I have recently been trying out the Full Repair range by John Frieda and there'll be a full review coming on that within the next few weeks. Mixed reviews at the moment, I'd say. I'm a bit late to the party when it comes to the Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette but I got it last week and am absolutely in love with it. I love the texture of the shadows and the shimmer level is just right for me. I've been using it every day. The little self portrait is just to demonstrate how long my hair has got - I'm desperately looking for a salon in Leeds to cut my hair short again but I'm a bit nervous to take the leap.
What did you get up to over Easter? What products are floating your boat at the moment?
