Remember these guys? I spoke about them a few weeks ago in a post all about the hi-top trainers with added height phenomenon. I wasn’t sure whether they’d work with me, but since the lovely folks at Spartoo were kind enough to spot me some shoes I thought why not take a risk?
Truth is, they’re not very ladylike or elegant but they somehow feel luxurious. I think it’s the material they’re made from, a velvety butter soft suede and supple leather. The wedge isn’t high – around 5cms maybe, but they definitely add a touch of glamour to an ensemble that may usually have me feeling a little butch. The simple jeans and trainers combo has never been so chic.
Manas are not a shoe company I’ve come across before and to be honest the prices are a little out of my usual price range. The price for a pair of these “Fannie” hi-tops is £140.99 – ouch! I don’t usually spend 3 figure sums on shoes or even clothes but I’m beginning to understand the price tag because the quality seems above and beyond what I’ve previously found on the high street. After just one wear the material has already softened and moulded around my feet. They’re truly a dream to slip my feet into. Like I said, I’ve only ventured out in them once so far and only for a simple walk to Tesco and back but they were comfortable – definitely comfortable enough for a day out or for a gig, I don’t know how they would stand up to long distances but for me who rarely wears anything but flats, they were a joy to wear.
The jury is still out on whether I think trainers + heels are a good plan style wise but I’m definitely up for giving it a go. I feel like it’s one of those trends that could be great, but could just as easily end up being a massive black mark on fashion history. For now I’m happily testing the trend with simple leggings, jeans or in this weather maybe a simple sundress. We’ll see how it goes!
