I thought I might take this opportunity to give you a few little updates on the blog, and well, on my life too!
First things first, I am slowly settling myself in here WordPress. Things have been a little bumpy. The road was not even, dear friends. But I’m here now and I have some things to clear up.
- astorminateacup.net is now the URL for the blog. If there’s anyway you guys can change any links you may have to me, I’m sorry to be cheeky, but I would be terribly grateful. At the moment the blogspot address is redirecting but for analytics/stats/seo purposes, as well as just general catchiness, I’d really like astorminateacup.net to be the one and only from now on :)
- Bloglovin readers: well, if you’re reading this then you’ve probably worked it out anyway, but the lovely people at Bloglovin helped me by updating the problem with my feed. You were without me for a while but now I should be back on your dashboards. Hopefully for good this time!
- There’s a small glitch with the LinkedWithin widget I have below my posts. It’s still coming up with links to the old URL even though all my posts have been imported here. I’m working on it, so bear with, and I’ll try and get it sorted asap.
Now that’s over with I can fill you in a bit about little old me. Tweeps, followers and friends will know that I started a new job just over a month ago. I’m writing and editing content for a website based in shopping and e-commerce. I’m pleased to report I’m really enjoying it and as my first job out of uni I think it’s pretty great, especially considering I am snuggled up at home all day!
I was a bit concerned at first about working from home, especially being new to Leeds and not knowing many people. I really do think my personality suits it though and I love managing my own time. It doesn’t really bother me that I don’t get much interaction with anyone during the days as because of his PhD work Matt is around a lot anyway and well, we all know how great one’s Twitter feed is for keeping one company!
The flat is coming on leaps and bounds. Considering it was furnished when we got here we’ve really done our best to add to what was here and really make it our own. There are battered books overflowing shelves and ukeleles hanging off walls and all my clothes and accessories breaking the lovely rail in the bedroom. It feels very “lived in” which makes me pretty happy. I think I might do a flat tour post once it’s all finished, but I’m really happy with how it looks so far. I think we’re due another IKEA trip. We finally got our beloved “Stenstorp” kitchen island delivered last week and Matt has been obsessively oiling it to make sure it’s kitchen-proof. Domestic life eh? Alright alright, so it doesn’t float everybody’s boat, but it feels pretty good to me.
I might have done something slightly naughty… I have an iMac coming tomorrow. I managed to convince myself that it wasn’t good for my (rathering fetchingly attired with new Tommy H glasses) eyes to be staring at a 13″ screen all day so I did the sensible thing and spent a grand and a half on a 27″ iMac. Standard behaviour. But… this means I’m actually going to be working at a desk from now on. This, of course, calls for lots of Pinterest -ing of office space. Look forward to some nice interiors posts coming up. It’s something I’d like to blog about more and has received good feedback in the past so I’ve been gathering pics and ideas and I’ve even got a guest poster or two coming up for you! Oooh, something new for A Storm in a Teacup. Exciting.
Currently, I’m loving:
Misfits, reading comics on my iPad, fancying Thor, cooking pies, new 16 and Pregnant, being so busy I’m blogging at 1.05am on a school night, My Transsexual Summer (SO MUCH LOVE), velvet boots, buying Christmas presents, (always), the Pret Christmas Sandwich , Friendly Fires, listening to 6 Music all day everyday and getting very festive.
