Lusciously Light!

Last Saturday I was invited to spend the day with some of my favourite bloggers and one of my favourite and most used brands, Aussie, at the beautiful Sunbeam Studios.

This phase was all about being Lusciously Light - in the hair department, in body and in mind. The Lusciously Light conditioners take care of your hair and come in all your normal Aussie ranges - Frizz Miracle, Miracle Moist and Colour Mate to name a few - but they're a light enough formula not to weigh your hair down or make it greasier, the way some conditioners do. For someone with fine and fly away hair like mine, I found the Frizz Miracle variety that I used ideal. My hair was soft, but still had volume and bounce. As someone who's had to avoid thicker products before (Aussie Take the Heat Leave-In Cream for example, I use the spray instead) this new conditioner is an ideal product for me and will be something I use regularly for months to come.

What with finishing uni, being pretty under the weather and generally not having much time or energy to expend on anything other than essays and keeping myself upright over the past few months, I've been pretty weak with the Lusciously Light challenge that Aussie had set for us. You probably saw some posts on other blogs about the day we spent at the gym in Canary Wharf, a very enjoyable day, but slightly taxing to say the least! I ached for days! I focused more on decluttering my life - having moved out of both my childhood home and my uni home in the last two months, I've tried my hardest not to be the hoarder I am at heart - being ruthless with my unworn clothes and silly niknaks. I am feeling a lot less weighed down now I must say - though that's in part due to being homeless and living out of boxes, haha.

The party at Sunbeam was the first time the Angels from the North and the South came together to celebrate. It was so nice to see all the girls together for the first time and to see some familiar faces I seem to be seeing more and more of lately. I finally got to meet some bloggers I've been reading and tweeting for a long time, so purely for that it was a lovely day.

Aussie know how to throw a party that's for sure. I've had many a fun time with them over the past year and a bit, and last saturday was no exception. There was a photographer ready to snap portraits of us, a yummy and lusciously light lunch, drinks a plenty as always, fantastic hair stylists creating catwalk style looks and even a candyfloss machine to keep us entertained! There's Maria on the right twirling her own candyfloss wearing her gorgeous vintage dress.

A stylist named Eugene styled my hair. When I sat down, I immediately apologised and said "I know its a bit short - there's not much you can do with it!" Since I've had it cut, I've sort of resigned myself to always looking the same when it comes to my hair, but Eugene showed me otherwise. As soon as I sat down he said words like big, 80s, textured and crimped, so I pretty much trusted him straight away - it was like he could see into my soul!

The result was pretty massive hair!! It was gravity defying and lasted the whole day +more, until 4am the next morning in fact. I loved using the candyfloss as a prop in the photos because the size and texture were almost matching - which you can see in the photos at the top of this post. I didn't think I'd enjoy being in front of the camera but I guess a few glasses of wine, two sessions at the champagne tasting table and lots of lovely company helped me to come out of my shell a bit!

One of the best things for me about these events is seeing what the stylists can do with only Aussie products. The 5 stylists at saturday's event must have styled over 50 heads between them at the very least, and all with only the products we all see on our local Boots or Superdrug shelves every week, and usually on 2 for £6 too. On me, Eugene used Aussie Aussome Volume & Conditioning Mousse, Aussie Aussome Volume & Gloss Hairspray and Aussie Curl Definition & Soft Feel Serum. What surprised me most is that all of these products are ones that are not only easily within reach for me, but all of them are actually products I already own. I'm a big believer in Aussie products, if I wasn't, I wouldn't keep endorsing the brand to you guys. Two thirds of the products I own are Aussie and I wouldn't dream of changing my regime anytime soon. The products are reliable and cheap, AND they smell delicious - who can ask for more than that!

Our delicious lunch (though I could've done with 3 more), the lovely Harriet posing, and gorgeous Susie & Sherin with their candyfloss.
I'd be lying though if I said that the highlight of the day was anything other than being able to be in one place with so many creative and brilliant women. Being able to see all the faces you've been reading about on blogs is a really lovely experience and its nice to be able to talk blogs for the whole day too!
So lovely to see Maria Maria Harriet Susie Sherin Jen Hayley Laura Amy and Fiona plus many many more on the day. These are the sort of events which make me really appreciate the blogging world and the girls I have met within it. Here's more to many more event like it!
Many thanks too to Emma and Holly of 1000 Heads for Aussie who made this event, and every other Aussie event I've been to more than enjoyable. They work so hard!
