Just a Little Curve-ball

So yesterday afternoon in work I was enjoying my 4.30pm cup of tea when I got a message from Matt: “I got a PhD scholarship in Leeds”. And so, in seconds, my life was changed.

So, friends, I’m not moving to Wimbledon after all. In fact, in six weeks ish, I’m moving to a completely different part of the county. Will any of you be there to welcome me? Or offer me a job? We’ll have to wait and see.

In other news, this is my new (and temporary) flat in Bristol. I only took pictures of the living room and the kitchen, because really, you don’t need to see my loo and my bedroom has clothes thrown all over it, but I can assure you they are both fabulous.

Check out that sofa too. I did that myself you know. Built it and all that stuff. Very proud. I’ve been very much enjoying my time here so far. I didn’t think I’d enjoy living on my own but so far I must admit, despite all the fraught life-changing decisions, I’ve found it very therapeutic. I have my own little routine going, just getting my head down and going to work every day.

The plus side about this whole Leeds thing, aside from of course moving to a fabulous new city full of very stylish people, is that our money will get us a lot further with somewhere to live. A tiny one bed apartment with a kitchen-living room is hopefully going to turn into a 2 bed flat with room to swing a kitten! Hooray!

Where do you guys go for interiors inspiration?

Yay for coming back up north! I am so glad I've decided to stay up north because the houses are so much cheaper. We're getting a 2 bedroom house for the same amount of money as a pokey studio flat down south.

I've fighted between the thought of living in london vs further up north since I graduated (2 years now). I do think i've made the right decision because i've saved sooo much money being in the north. London will wait for us, i'm sure we'll make it there one day! :) x
