Look at me, actually following through on a series! All part of my new blogging resolutions :)
So, Part 2 - The Face Mask. I tried BB Seaweed.

So this mask is described as both reviving and relaxing. The mineral- rich formula is said to cleanse and soften skin. I was recommended this because it is gentle to sensitive skins, but I'm told that it is suitable for all skin types. It's made from seaweed (obvs), kaolin, honey, aloe vera and rose so it's easy to see where the relaxing element comes in. I've been putting aloe vera on my poor sunburnt ginger skin for many a summer and my mum loves a bit of honey for it's antiseptic qualities.
The deal with the the Lush Fresh Face Masks is that they are as fresh as you can get, so fresh that it's important you keep them in the fridge. You are also meant to use them within 6 weeks of purchase, but to be honest I don't think many would find that hard as there is maybe only 5 applications per pot. I've never got to 6 weeks anyway, mine are always long gone, so it's not something I can confirm or challenge. So you take a scoop of the stuff and apply to everywhere but the eye area, you leave it on for 5-10 mins. By this time, the mask has begun to harden, so its a no to frequent facial movements! Then rinse it off with warm water. Pretty straight forward really.
The result, for me, was a clean feeling and supple skin. Any dryness I'd been battling with seemed to reduce and red or blemished areas were calmer. I guess if your skin is normal to oily, you may not have to moisturise after as the mask leaves the skin pretty hydrated. I whacked on a coat of "Celestial" (review to come) though, to lock in moisture for the night ahead. In the morning my skin felt fresh as a daisy, with reduced dryness and oily areas. I generally don't need any face make-up the day after a Lush mask.
The downside for me with this product was the general consistency, texture and application. It's very thick and lumpy, and while the thickness is good because you know it won't make a mess, the weird consistency made it quite hard to apply and get even coverage. I must say, this did sort of take away from the luxury element of the process for me because it sort of felt like work. That said, once on the face it felt and smelt really good. How Lush can make even seaweed smell good, I have no idea.
The cost is £5.25 per 75g, which to me puts it firmly in the "not everyday, but once in a while" category. I would recommend this as something to do when you've just finished exams, or when your skin is usually good but feels like it needs some help. Out of the 4 products I'll review in this series, this is definitely the luxury item - one to splash out on if you're feeling naughty!
Overall, I'd give BB Seaweed a 6/10 - my skin felt great, but the texture was a bit weird for me. It's also a little too pricey to be a beauty must have. I'm definitely up for trying a few more though, and perhaps I'll find a smoother one to get along with!
