Fire Burnin' Fire Burnin'

On Bonfire Night I was kindly invited by Aussie to a lovely evening out with all the London Angels. As regular readers will know, I’ve been an Aussie Angel since around April time and I’ve been lucky enough to be invited to a variety of wicked events over the summer, including the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party, Aussie to the Rescue and a day at Goodwood Vintage Fashion Festival.

The Take the Heat Bonfire Night event was my first time out with a big group of Angels. There must have been around 35 of us at the foot of the London Eye at 7.15pm last Friday. Lots of glamour and glitz for sure, but sadly the weather had ruined most of the gorgeous hair we’d all prepared.

After my previous post I’d taken inspiration from all of you (thanks Cellardoor especially) and decided to go with a Rhianna-esque look. I gelled the sides of my – at the moment quite long – hair and built height and volume on top by adding a sneaky sneaky hair piece and using ceramic rollers and a conical wand. Aussie Volume hairspray saved the day once again and the Take the Heat Spray – part of the range the event was organized to celebrate – really did the job of saving my hair from the scary amount of heat I used on it.

I wore my trusty H! by Henry Holland jumpsuit, and my leather jacket. The dress code was glam, so I fully intended to wear some black patent platform heels, but seeing the weather outside and dreading my walk through the woods to the train station, I couldn’t bare the idea of slipping and sliding all over the shop, so I chickened out big style and went with ankle boots. I looked a little more casual than I would’ve liked, but due to the weather no one looked as glam as they would’ve liked, I don’t think. See below a picture of me taken by the lovely Keri. I was also rocking my new Topshop handbag. Post on that bad boy to come.

I’ve actually been using the Take the Heat spray regularly since I was sent it, which must be around 4 weeks now. I diffuse my hair everyday after I wash it and it is already dry and frizzy by nature. Though I’m not sure that you’re meant to see immediate results seeing as it’s a protector and not a styling product, I can only report that my hair hasn’t seemed to need its Aussie 3 Minute Miracle quite so often, and although its time for a cut, the ends are definitely not frazzled. So I guess it’s doing it’s job. I’ve yet to experiment with the cream, I have to admit it scares me slightly because I have fine hair and the style I have it in is somewhat reliant on my hair being light and almost upright – therefore I’m a bit concerned about the thick cream weighing it down. I’ve got no doubt that the cream would be suitable for thicker hair types though.

The evening started off rainy but quickly turned warm and sparkly as we split into two groups and boarded the pods that Aussie had waiting for us on the London eye. I boarded with Dannii and Maria of Frills n Spills (lovely girls who I’ve had the pleasure of meeting a few times before) and Sherin amongst others. While on board we could see 360 degrees of London and lots of firework displays all over the horizon. We ooohed and ahhhed while we sipped champagne and attempted to be ladylike while shoving multiple canapés down our gullets. The salt beef and turkey and cranberry were my personal favourites.

Two spins around the wheel, numerous chats with fellow angels, and furtive glances at awe-inspiring outfits, and we were back on the ground and walking towards ONLY SOME BLOODY HUMMER LIMOS! The shrieks were loud and I must say I was very surprised that we were all so excited. One of my favourite parts of the evening was glancing around the white hummer I was in and seeing everyone (except Danni – you need an internet phone!) frantically tweeting our decided hashtag of #yummyhummer. Everything was very excitable when we turned up at Jewel Bar in Covent Garden. After watching a lady dancing with some fire and a weird experience with The Phantom of the Opera, we went inside to find our own little sectioned off area. More champagne, followed by gorgeous little platters of finger food, followed by lovely chit chats, followed by absolutely orgasmic cocktails (French Martini anyone?) led to lots of silly dancing and louder and louder voices.

I can’t stress enough how spoilt I feel when I go to these Aussie events. Aussie really think of everything and they definitely throw some seriously TO DIE FOR events if you ask me. Well done too to Hayley for putting Bristol (WOOOOOP) on the map by winning the prize for the best hair. She had a lovely up do and I was very jealous of the shine and the volume she’d managed to keep, even in the disastrous weather.

I can only look forward to the next Aussie Angel’s event now which is coming up on the 4th December. I’m very excited about this one and it’ll be lovely to see all the angels again.

It was great to see everybody at this event, and I’m only sad that I didn’t talk to hardly any of you!! Love must go to the girls of Frills n Spills - girls lets get drunk together more often! Also lovely to see Jenny of The Style PA as always, and Sherin too of HiFashion too. Great to see so many bloggers all together in one place. Was also very lovely to (briefly) meet Kristabel of I Want You To Know, Fiona of Save Our Shoes, Vic (be sure to check out her illustrations) and the gorgeous Amy of Wolf Whistle - little bit star struck there, I was.

Thank you to lovely intern Keri too, for all the work she put in and for taking the above picture of me in my Henry Holland jumpsuit. It was lovely to hear all about her role at 1000 Heads and nice to talk to another blogger hailing from the big BRSTL too – there seems to be a lot of us girls ☺

If I spoke to you and I haven’t mentioned you I’m sorry! Its not because I don’t love you, but my brain is bit addled from all the French Martinis!
