I'm creating a new type of post. The Bandwagon post. This is where I start doing something that everyone else discovered a while back. In each post, I'll talk you through the events, and sight my inspirations <3
I'm not much of a nail art girl. I like a good polish, and my nails are rarely bare, but I never put much effort in. Usually, its just one full colour. However, having heard the buzz surrounding WAH Nails, I decided to check out some nail art.
Its important to mention, too, that I bought my best friend Anna some manicure vouchers for her birthday in April, so that she could get her nails MINXED when we go to Vegas. Never one to deny something flash, I thought when I get mine done with her (naturally) I won't just plug for plain gold or silver - but it had to be gold or silver LEOPARD PRINT.
I've seen some wicked blogs with pics and tutorials showing me how to leopard up my nails myself: Lilly for her pictures, Cat and Gem deserving honourable mentions for their tutorials - THANKS LADIES!! So I decided to give it a go myself. All credit must go to these fabulous bloggers though, for giving me the inspiration and the know how.
Here's what I used:

Nails Inc for Diet Coke Polish in London
17 Lasting Fix Polish in Orange Soda
Natural Collection Top Coat
Rimmel London Professional Liquid Eyeliner

I started with clean, polish free nails. I understand that I should probably use a base coat, but I'm a bad blogger and rarely ever do. Always in a rush!

I put on one coat of Nails Inc London polish - I love this polish and I think it goes with everything and suits all occasions. Usually, one coat is enough for me as it applies evenly and thickly, but of course you can add another if you see fit.

I added polka dots of 17's Lasting Fix in Orange Soda, being careful there wasn't too much excess on the brush. This was waaay easier than I expected. Its pretty easy - and even a wobbly hand like mine found it simple and quick.

I used the liquid liner to draw small lines - sometimes two, sometimes three per spot. I added more black where there was a lot of space, or on the edge of the nail, to give the appearance of more spots! I found wielding my ultra thin liquid liner quite difficult, but the beauty is that because its liner and not nail polish, you can wipe it straight off with a wipe or some cotton wool if it goes wrong. In the future though, I might consider investing in a liner with a slightly thicker brush, ultra thin made it a little too fiddly.
I also found that you don't need to worry too much about neatness. I was worried when I did my right hand, because my left hand is a lot more shakey. I needn't of worried as I actually liked the slightly messier look better - it looked more like actual leopard print.

I added a top coat. I had to use an old Natural Collection one as I think I've left my Barry M one at uni. I'm glad it wasn't too old though because for the top coat it needs to be thin, so that it can go on quick - the more strokes, the more smudging!

A close up! Far from perfect but I figure I'll get better with time! Let me know what you think and if you've attempted, or will attempt this yourself!! Its times like this where I really like being part of the blogging community. You can think you've tried everything and that its all getting a bit dull - and suddenly a lovely girl pipes up to give you a nudge to try something new! Love love love to all!
