Fans of Doctor Who stand up and pay attention. In fact, fans of costume departments of hit TV shows in general, you should concentrate too. I have something to show you.

The New Doctor.
Geek or chic? Geekchic perhaps? Either way, there's a lot of disappointment and even anger surfacing as a result of this wardrobe choice, and I must admit, it's not what I was expecting. Its a far cry from the beautiful David Tennant's Next catalogue ensemble, complete with high-tops. However, I have to say, I'm not completely adverse to this look. I think its stylish. In fact, I think I like it. Lets not forget - the guy is 900 years old - it's understandable he's not so down with the kids.
Or... oh wait, is he? The boots are Prada, and the roll-up trousers scream Shoreditch/Brick Lane/London street style at me. Perhaps the history teacher look (is that an elbow patch I spy?), albeit complete with floppy hair, is a lot more post-modern than it appears at first look? Maybe all those people complaining the new Doctor looks drab, old-fashioned, dated, are missing the point.
I think what the makers of Doctor Who have done here, is throw a curve ball at the viewing public. By casting a young doctor, criticism was rife - sparking debate that the show is becoming too sexy and veering away from its original selling point. Science, aliens, all that good stuff. This costume has given us something unexpected - and it fills me with excitement at what Matt Smith might bring us.
Fans and haters and could-care-lessers, how do you rate it?
I, quite frankly, couldn't be more excited. I think I'm a little bit in love already.
